Job summary

The Midfield Group in Warrnambool, Victoria is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our on-site team. You will work alongside a crew of tradespeople to repair and maintain machinery and equipment and to deliver the Preventative Maintenance Program.

The role requires Trade Certificates (Engine Reconditioning / Fitter & Turner / Machinist or related), punctuality, reliability, problem solving and good communication.

Qualifications

• Trade certificates in engine reconditioning or fitter & turner / machinist or related.
• Experience in a similar maintenance role is highly regarded.
• Punctual, reliable, self-motivated and a team player with good communication.
• Pass drug and alcohol test and pre-employment medical if required; Q Fever vaccination or willingness.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment.
• Schedule and complete the Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Study drawings to determine materials and methods; assemble parts and set up tools.
• Fit metal parts, check tolerances, and set up machining tools and dies.
• Diagnose faults and service hydraulic and pneumatic lines; on-site erection of machines.
• Attend daily maintenance and toolbox meetings.

The Midfield Group is privately owned and operates a true ‘Paddock to Plate’ experience as we own farms, factories, and distribution as to ensure we retain control of the key elements of the process of getting livestock from paddock to plate.

We have a current vacancy for a highly skilled and safety focused Maintenance Fittersto join our team located in Warrnambool, Victoria. In this role, you will be required to work alongside a crew of like-minded tradespeople to deliver maintenance onsite.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment
• Scheduling and completing the companies 'Preventative Maintenance Program'
• Studies drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations and machine settings.
• Fits fabricated metal parts into products and assembles metal parts and sub-assemblies to produce machines and equipment.
• Checks fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
• Sets guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, sets up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and sets controls for textile machines.
• Forms metal stock and castings to fine tolerance using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal.
• Cuts, threads, bends and installs hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
• Diagnoses faults and performs operational maintenance of machines, and overhauls and repairs mechanical parts and fluid power equipment.
• May erect machines and equipment on-site.
• Attending daily maintenance situations and breakdowns
• Attending weekly maintenance meetings and toolbox talks

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:

• Trade Certificates - Engine Reconditioning/ Fitter & Turner/ Machinist and/or other related industry qualification
• Strong experience in a similar role will be highly regarded
• Be punctual and reliable, self-motivated, problem solver & team player
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills
• Basic computer literacy
• You must pass a drug & alcohol test and be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical if required.
• You have already had a Q Fever vaccination or are willing to participate in the vaccination process.
