Job summary

Mulgowie Farming Company in Bowen, Queensland seeks an experienced Fitter to join our maintenance team at the Mulgowie Packhouse. You will perform preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns to support the packhouse and wider facility.

You will be part of a small, collaborative team focused on safe, efficient equipment operation and continuous improvements across packaging and processing lines.

Qualifications

• Trade/industry qualifications in maintenance/mechanical.
• Competent in basic welding repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all plant and equipment.
• Repair and install plant and equipment; assess and prioritise breakdowns.
• Carry out checks and complete paperwork accurately.
• Ensure work complies with safety, housekeeping and regulations.
• Fault finding and diagnostic repairs of equipment.
• Support maintenance team to improve methods for higher machine availability.

Job description

The Role

Mulgowie Farming Company is seeking experienced, qualified Fitter to work within the maintenance department at our Mulgowie Packhouse facility, located in Bowen. As part of a small tight knit team, you will provide preventative maintenance and breakdown support to the packhouse and wider facility.

Your role

• Conduct preventative maintenance on all plant and equipment
• Timely repair and installation of plant and equipment & assessing and prioritising breakdown service requirements.
• Ensures all checks are carried out and all paperwork is filled in correctly
• Ensure that all work meets all company safety and housekeeping requirements and conforms to all relevant regulations
• Fault finding and diagnostic repairs of equipment and machinery
• Assist the wider Maintenance team to identify and implement improvements to Maintenance work methods or procedures in order to improve machine availability

Consideration will be given to the following skills and attributes.

• Trade/Industry qualifications (Maintenance/Mechanical)
• Competent at basic welding repairs

Highly Regarded

• Experience on belt conveyors and augers
• Forklift Ticket
• Mechanical Trade with Restricted Electrical highly regarded
• Experience with Refrigeration Systems
• Experience with fault finding and repairs on pneumatic or hydraulic systems
• Experience with Packaging and Labelling equipment
• Must currently be resident in Australia or New Zealand
• Valid work visa acceptable for employment
