Job summary

Cheetham Salt Limited in Sea Lake, Victoria, is seeking a qualified Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team. You will perform planned maintenance, attend breakdowns, and install or repair plant equipment as needed.

You must hold a Mechanical Fitter/ Fitter Fabricator/ Fitter Machinist trade qualification, be eligible to work in Australia, and pass pre-employment checks. On-site role with on-call roster and a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Fabricator or Fitter Machinist.
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
• Ability to pass pre-employment medical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety during all maintenance activities.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Attend breakdowns of plant and production equipment, identify root causes, and implement countermeasures.
• Complete required work permits and safety procedures.

Our SeaLake Operations in north-west Victoria are currently seeking a qualified MaintenanceFitter to join our dynamic Maintenance team. Sea Lake is a town in the Mallee district of north-west Victoria and is situated along the southern shores of the beautiful Lake Tyrell. The town is located 351kms north-west of Melbourne, and 70kms west of Swan Hill, in the heart of Australia’s wheat belt and part of the beautiful silo trail.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Coordinator your key responsibilities will include:

• Responsible for the safety of all that is impacted by maintenance activity.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance to minimize unplanned downtime.
• Attend breakdowns of plant and production equipment, identifying root cause and countermeasures to eliminate recurring issues.
• Completion of required work permits and safety procedures.
• Carry out plant and equipment installation, repair, modification, and construction as required.
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
• Ability to work an on-call roster and respond to call-outs as required.
• A current driver’s licence and have own transport to get to work as there is no public transport available

About You

You will bring the following skills, experience, and attributes to the role:

• Trade Qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fitter Fabricator or Fitter Machinist
• A proactive and positive attitude, with strong work ethic
• Solid repair or fabrication experience with conveying, crushing or liquid pumping advantageous
• Forklift, EWP, Disconnect - Reconnect Electrical Licence & Confined Space Licence preferred.
• Proven history in mechanical maintenance, problem solving & repairs
• Motivated to drive your own success as an individual in a challenging role
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, & background checks, including police check
• Unrestricted working rights in Australia
