Job summary

Newly Weds Foods in Sydney seeks a Maintenance Fitter for a permanent night shift (10pm–6am) at our Wetherill Park site. You will fault‑find, repair machinery and perform preventative maintenance to keep production running and ensure high product quality, with overtime possible on weekends when required.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate required in mechanical trades.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in Food Manufacturing or FMCG.
• CMMS knowledge (MEX preferred).
• Demonstrated MIG/TIG welding/fabrication experience.
• Forklift and working at heights licences desirable.
• Must have full working rights.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and undertake day to day maintenance activities across the site.
• Conduct preventative maintenance according to site requirements.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and find solutions to minimise downtime in production.
• Disassemble, assess, repair and reassemble machine equipment and estimate repair duration.
• Maintain hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical equipment per safety and operational standards.
• Perform MIG/TIG welding and fabrication when required.
• Conduct root cause analysis on failures and follow up on actions.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency repairs as required.
• Update and maintain data records on work via CMMS (MEX).
• Adhere to Safety and Quality requirements onsite.

About the role

Our team is growing, and we have exciting opportunities for a Maintenance Fitter to join our busy and dynamic team permanently on Night Shift (10pm - 6am). Based at Wetherill Park and reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the primary objective of the role is to fault find and proactively repair machinery and conduct preventative maintenance to enable the production team to produce high quality products.

Overtime may be available on weekends when required based on operational requirements.

Key responsibilities and duties:

• Participate in and undertake day to day maintenance activities across the site
• Conduct preventative maintenance according to site requirements
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and find solutions to minimise downtime in production
• Disassemble, assess, repair and reassemble machine equipment and provide estimated duration of time for repair
• Maintain hydraulic , Pneumatic and mechanical equipment as per safety and operational standards
• Perform MIG/TIG welding and fabrication when required
• Conduct root cause analysis on failures and ensuring following up on identified actions
• Responding to any breakdowns and emergency repairs as required
• Update and maintain data records on work carried out via CMMS (MEX)
• Adhere to Safety and Quality requirements onsite

About you and your skills:

• Mechanical Trade certificate
• Minimum 3 years' experience working in Food Manufacturing or FMCG
• Working knowledge of CMMS (MEX preferred)
• Demonstrated experience in MIG/TIG Welding/ Fabrication
• Ability to work autonomously and within a team
• Sound verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
• Demonstrated experience in problem solving
• Forklift and working at heights licence is desirable
• Must have full working rights
