Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing food manufacturing business seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter / Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a trade-qualified maintenance professional looking to work within a modern production environment where reliability, quality, and continuous improvement are highly valued.

Working as part of a dedicated engineering team, you will be responsible for preventative and breakdown maintenance, fault finding, equipment repairs, and supporting production to ensure maximum plant performance and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative maintenance across production and packaging equipment.


• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.


• Perform repairs, servicing, and replacement of machinery components.


• Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.


• Complete maintenance tasks through a maintenance scheduling system.


• Assist with maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Support shutdowns, installations, and engineering projects.


• Manage critical spare parts and maintenance requirements.


• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.


• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures including LOTO and machine guarding.


• Work collaboratively with Production and Quality teams to maintain food safety and GMP standards.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Trade qualifications as a Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or Fitter/Machinist.


• Minimum 3 years' experience in a maintenance role within manufacturing, production, or industrial environments.


• Experience working with automated filling and packaging equipment.


• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.


• Sound understanding of PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems.


• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.


• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.


• Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude.


• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Highly Regarded

• Food manufacturing experience.


• Forklift Licence.


• Electrical knowledge or experience.


• Exposure to GMP and food safety environments.
