Job summary

Momentum Consulting Group Pty Ltd in Toongabbie is seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join a busy manufacturing environment. This role offers stable Monday-to-Friday afternoon shift work with onsite parking and a supportive maintenance team.

You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose faults, and work with hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding and reading technical drawings are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold Mechanical Fitter trade qualification and industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• MUST be competent in MIG and TIG welding.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and repair machinery to minimise downtime.
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems and read schematics.
• Install, modify and commission machinery and equipment.
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Perform precision fabrication and welding, including MIG/TIG.
• Read drawings, specifications and manuals; document activities.

About the Role

Working as part of an experienced maintenance team, you will be responsible for keeping production machinery and equipment operating safely and efficiently. The role will involve a combination of preventative maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding and equipment improvement.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance and responding to equipment breakdowns.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and repairing machinery to minimise production downtime.
• Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including interpreting relevant schematics.
• Installing, modifying and commissioning machinery and equipment.
• Assisting with machinery upgrades, improvements and relocation projects.
• Performing precision fabrication and welding work, including MIG and TIG welding.
• Using workshop equipment such as lathes and milling machines where required.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, equipment manuals and specifications.
• Investigating recurring equipment issues and contributing to root cause analysis.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles.
• Maintaining high standards of quality, GMP and workplace safety.
• Recording maintenance activities and equipment information using maintenance systems.
• Working with suppliers to identify and source suitable parts and components.
• Supporting and sharing knowledge with other members of the maintenance team.
• Reporting hazards, incidents and near misses in line with site procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Mechanical Fitter trade qualification and relevant industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• MUST be competent in both MIG and TIG welding.
• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• A strong understanding of preventative and breakdown maintenance.
• Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
