Job summary

• Mechanical Trade Fitter qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Maintenance Fitter role.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills in mechanical systems.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical/hydraulic schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair production and plant equipment.
• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance and installations.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Fabricate guards, supports and brackets; perform precision measurements.
• Coordinate with external contractors and manage spare parts.
• Utilise CMMS to record maintenance activities and drive improvements.

We're looking for an experienced, hands‑on Maintenance Fitter to join our team in Norwest on a permanent, full‑time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled tradesperson who enjoys variety, troubleshooting machinery and being the person the production team can rely on when things need fixing.

You’ll work across a diverse range of production equipment, plant and machinery, with responsibility for preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, installations, fabrication and continuous improvement.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair production and plant equipment
• Identify equipment failures and determine the extent of repairs required
• Replace worn or defective components and make operating adjustments
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues
• Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance
• Install, relocate and commission manufacturing equipment
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, manuals and electrical/hydraulic schematics
• Fabricate equipment guards, supports, brackets and other components
• Carry out precision measurements using equipment such as micrometers
• Maintain buildings, plant and production equipment
• Prepare machinery for installation, relocation or removal
• Monitor spare parts and assist with inventory management
• Coordinate with external contractors when required
• Record and manage maintenance activities using Maintain X / CMMS
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve plant safety, reliability and efficiency
• Ensure plant and equipment meet relevant safety requirements
• Maintain excellent housekeeping and safe working practices

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Mechanical Trade Fitter qualification or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a Maintenance Fitter role
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment
• Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical/hydraulic schematics
• Strong knowledge of hand and power tools
• Experience with precision measuring equipment
• Strong fabrication and welding skills
• MIG and Stick/MMAW welding experience
• Comfortable with basic TIG welding
• Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience using CMMS software, preferably Maintain X or MEX
• Excellent problem‑solving ability and initiative
• Strong commitment to safety and quality

TICKETS & CERTIFICATIONS

The following are preferred. If you don’t currently hold all of them, you may be required to obtain them within the required timeframe:

• Forklift Licence
• Confined Space
• Working at Heights
• EWP Ticket
• Basic welding training - MMAW, GMAW and TIG

SAFETY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE

You’ll play an important role in maintaining a safe, compliant and reliable workplace.

Experience and understanding of Lock, Tag & Try, fire prevention, crane and forklift operations, hazard identification and plant safety will be highly regarded.
