Job summary

Greenmountain Food Processing in Queensland’s Coominya facility seeks an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join the maintenance team. This full-time, permanent role focuses on maintaining and repairing mechanical plant, reading drawings, and supporting safe, efficient operation of our meat processing equipment.

The successful candidate will have an Australian-recognised trade qualification in mechanical engineering or equivalent and proven experience with pumps, conveyors and hydraulic/pneumatic

Qualifications

• Qualified maintenance fitter with Australian-recognised trade certification in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining industrial production machinery and fixed plant.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills in mechanical systems.
• Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
• Safety-focused mindset with ability to work both independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs in a timely and effective manner.
• Fit, assemble, install and repair mechanical components and equipment.
• Overhaul and maintain pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals and maintenance instructions.
• Carry out fabrication, fitting and minor welding activities where required.
• Assist with machinery installation, modification and continuous improvement projects.
• Complete maintenance records and report identified defects.
• Follow site safety procedures, isolation requirements and permit systems.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organised work area.

Job Description

Greenmountain Food Processing, a Queensland-based export beef processing facility, is seeking experienced Maintenance Fitters to join our maintenance team at our Coominya facility. This is a full-time position responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving the mechanical plant, machinery and equipment used throughout our meat processing operation. The successful applicants will work as part of a multidisciplinary maintenance team supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on production machinery and plant equipment
• Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs in a timely and effective manner
• Fit, assemble, install and repair mechanical components and equipment

Essential Requirements

• Australian-recognised trade qualification in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, Fitting and Turning, or an equivalent relevant qualification
• Demonstrated experience working as a Maintenance Fitter, Mechanical Fitter or Fitter-Mechanic
• Experience maintaining industrial production machinery and fixed plant
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• Availability to work a rotating roster and reasonable overtime required by the operation
• Experience within meat processing, food manufacturing, agricultural processing or another high-volume industrial manufacturing environment will be highly regarded

Salary

Salary will be between $79,500 and $85,000 per year, plus superannuation, depending on the applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience.
