Job summary

AKD Softwoods is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join our manufacturing team. You will be hands-on, keeping plant equipment running safely and efficiently while supporting production and continuous improvement initiatives.

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and coordinate with the broader maintenance group to minimise downtime and uphold quality standards across AKD’s timber operations.

Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a practical, solutions-focused mindset.
• Confident analytical and communication skills.
• Trade background in mechanical maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a strong commitment to Workplace Health and Safety.
• Carry out preventive maintenance to keep equipment performing at peak.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime for production teams.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults with accuracy and care.
• Ensure all work meets relevant standards and compliance requirements.
• Plan, organise, and prioritise tasks to support operational needs.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to coordinate activities.

As a Maintenance Fitter at AKD, you’ll be part of a skilled, hands‑on team that keeps our manufacturing equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently.
