Gundagai Meat Processors (GMP) is seeking a Maintenance Fabricator to study engineering drawings, fabricate and repair plant equipment across the GMP site. You will work with stainless and mild steel, cut and form metal sections, and join components using welding while ensuring hygiene and quality standards in a meat processing environment.
Routine and preventive maintenance, emergency breakdown response, and support for installation and commissioning of new equipment are part of the role.
Maintenance Fabricator position within Gundagai Meat Processors (GMP). The role involves studying and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, sketches and specifications to determine fabrication and repair requirements for plant equipment and structures across the GMP site. You will work with metal stock including stainless steel and mild steel plate, sections and pipe, cut marked out metal sections using hand tools, grinders, plasma and oxy cutting equipment and metal cutting machines, and shape, bend and form metal sections using hand and machine tools with the application of heat where required. You will align, fit and assemble fabricated parts, join metal components using stick, MIG and TIG welding processes, bolting and other mechanical fastening methods, and inspect completed welds for bead width, penetration and accuracy. You will perform routine and preventive maintenance on mechanical plant, respond promptly to emergency breakdowns, assist in installation and commissioning of new equipment, and maintain accurate maintenance records.
