Job summary

The Australian Taxation Office is seeking a Mainframe Database Services Lead to join the Mainframe Delivery Centre within our Enterprise Solutions and Technology division. You will provide leadership for the organisation's mainframe database services, ensuring secure, reliable and resilient platforms that support critical business operations.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to deliver operational excellence while balancing BAU support, project delivery and strategic priorities.
• Strong mainframe technical leadership and sound judgement when managing complex technology services, risks and competing demands.
• Governance, risk management and service management capabilities, including incident, problem and change management disciplines.
• Experience managing enterprise mainframe platform database services while driving capability uplift, service improvement and modernisation initiatives.
• Builds productive relationships and influences outcomes across technical teams, vendors, service providers and senior stakeholders.
• Substantial experience leading, coaching and developing high-performing technical teams within complex enterprise technology environments.

We are seeking a Mainframe Database Services Lead to join our Mainframe Delivery Centre within our Enterprise Solutions and Technology business area.

As a Mainframe Database Services Lead, you'll provide leadership for the ATO's mainframe database services, ensuring the continued delivery of secure, reliable and resilient platforms that support critical business operations across the organisation.

You will lead a team of highly skilled technical specialists responsible for the ongoing performance, availability, security, recovery and operational integrity of enterprise mainframe database services. You'll be accountable for setting the strategic direction of the team, driving operational excellence and ensuring services continue to meet current and future business requirements.

Working across a complex technology environment, you'll collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, project teams, vendors and service providers to deliver both strategic and operational outcomes. You'll provide authoritative technical advice, influence decision-making and help shape the future direction of mainframe database services within the ATO.

You will play a key role in leading capability uplift, workforce development and continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture. You'll also contribute to modernisation activities, service optimisation and risk management to ensure the long-term sustainability and resilience of business-critical platforms.

This role may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in Canberra or Melbourne CBD.
