Job summary

Australia Post in Blacktown is seeking a Mail Sorting Officer to support the preparation of mail for the next-day delivery. Based at a delivery centre, you will assist with processing letters, parcels and Express Post items, and help load/unload mail from bags and transport vehicles.

You will operate conveyors, perform scanning for mail tracking, and help ensure an efficient flow of mail and parcels while prioritising safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Flexible and willing to work extra hours and undertake additional duties when needed.
• Detail-focused, reliable and able to safely lift and handle items up to 16kg individually, with team lifting required for articles up to 22kg.
• Comfortable performing manual handling tasks and working in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Willing to rotate across multiple operational functions throughout the shift.
• Communicate clearly, work proactively and support teammates in busy environments.
• Willing to be trained in and operate pallet jacks, BT equipment and other operational tools and equipment.
• Committed to workplace safety procedures, operational standards and working collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Based at a Delivery Centre, you will prepare mail for delivery and assist with processing letters, parcels and Express Post items.
• Sort mail that can't be machine-processed and help load/unload mail from bags, trays, containers and transport vehicles.
• Support loose load operations by unloading articles from ULDs onto conveyors and assist with van unloading to ensure accurate sorting.
• Work with modern processing equipment and systems, set up conveyors, conduct scanning for mail tracking, and prepare work areas.
• Rotate across different operational functions to maintain efficient mail and parcel flow.
