Job summary

UGL is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the M6 Stage 1 rail infrastructure delivery in Australia. You will apply engineering principles across design, construction and commissioning, working with design teams, site engineers and subcontractors to meet safety, quality and project requirements.

You’ll review drawings, prepare documentation, attend coordination meetings, monitor progress and respond to RFIs, while developing SHEQ processes and leading others on site.

Qualifications

• Approx. 4 years Mechanical project engineering experience.
• Relevant Rail Industry Worker competencies.
• Experience applying engineering principles to comply with project requirements.
• Development of SHEQ processes and managing others.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing design drawings, models and technical specs.
• Prepare and update documentation such as work packs and technical queries.
• Coordinate with design teams, site engineers and contractors on engineering requirements.
• Attend daily site or project coordination meetings.
• Monitor construction activities for standards and drawings.
• Conduct site inspections for quality, clearances and foundations.
• Respond to RFIs and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
• Support energisation readiness, testing and commissioning planning.
• Manage subcontractors and suppliers work.
• Manage conformance verification for works under control.
• Manage temporary works design and approvals.
• Manage short term programme (up to 2 months).
• Undertake monthly forecasting including accruals and cost/time reporting.
