Job summary

Peabody Energy, Inc. seeks experienced Longwall Mechanical Fitters to join Centurion Mine’s longwall crews. You will work hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment to support a safe, reliable and efficient longwall operation.

Responsibilities include inspections, maintenance, repairs and overhauls of longwall equipment, troubleshooting hydraulic systems, and collaborating with the broader maintenance team to minimise downtime while ensuring compliance with safety and site policies.

Qualifications

• Requires a recognised mechanical trade certificate and underground longwall experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with fault-finding and repair capability.
• Commitment to safety, hazard identification and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, repair and overhaul longwall equipment (shearers, AFCs, BSLs, hydraulic roof supports).
• Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement practical solutions to minimise downtime.
• Support longwall installation, maintenance and panel moves.
• Collaborate with electricians, engineers, operators and maintenance team for reliable performance.
• Record service history and issues for compliance.
