Job summary

Holloway Removals is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager based in Adelaide to coordinate transport, storage and distribution for SA and interstate operations. The role focuses on scheduling, carrier management and cost control across three states.

You will lead, roster and supervise staff, ensure WHS compliance and continually improve logistics systems and procedures to boost efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• About the role
• We are looking for an experienced Logistics Manager, based in Adelaide, to plan, direct and coordinate the movement and storage of our clients & goods across our South Australian and interstate operations. Adelaide sits on the Melbourne to Perth corridor, and this role carries responsibility for the scheduling, carrier management and cost control that keep our interstate services on time and on budget across South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.
• Key responsibilities
• Plan, organise and coordinate the transport, storage and distribution of household goods, freight and storage consignments across South Australia and interstate, with particular responsibility for the Melbourne to Perth corridor.
• Develop and manage the interstate linehaul schedule, including load consolidation, vehicle and crew allocation, staging and re-dispatch.
• Direct and control warehouse and depot activities, including inbound and outbound movements, storage utilisation, inventory control and stock accuracy.
• Select, engage and manage transport contractors and partner carriers, negotiate rates and service terms, and monitor their performance against agreed service standards.
• Prepare and manage operational budgets for the Adelaide and interstate operations, and control costs such as fuel, labour, subcontracting and storage.
• Monitor and report on performance, including cost per move, vehicle and crew utilisation, on-time delivery, damage and claims.
• Lead, roster, train and supervise operational staff, and manage their performance.
• Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint and work health and safety requirements.
• Implement and improve logistics systems and procedures, including the transport management system, to raise efficiency and service quality.
• Work with the national operations, sales and customer service teams to forecast demand, plan capacity and resolve escalations.
• Skills, qualifications and experience required;
• A bachelor degree or higher in logistics, supply chain, engineering, business or a related field, OR at least five years of relevant experience in place of a formal qualification.
• At least three years of experience managing logistics, transport, removals, freight or warehouse operations, including responsibility for staff, costs and service outcomes.
• Experience planning and scheduling interstate or multi-site transport operations.
• Experience engaging and managing transport contractors or carriers, including rate negotiation.
• Working knowledge of Chain of Responsibility, fatigue management, load restraint and WHS obligations.
• Strong analytical skills and confident use of transport or warehouse management systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Clear communication and leadership skills, and the ability to manage internal teams and external partners.
