Job summary

Qube Ports is seeking a Log Scaler in Tasmania to ensure accurate measurement of export logs and to monitor log quality within a dynamic yard environment. This hands-on role supports the log marshalling team and requires practical knowledge of standards and SOPs.

You will work with a growth-oriented company offering career progression and competitive remuneration while contributing to safe, efficient yard operations in a busy export facility.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The purpose of this role is to consistently deliver excellence and accuracy in the measuring of export logs on behalf of Qube Forestry. The Log Scaler will continually monitor log quality and when requested can identify out of spec logs with confidence.

The Log Scaler will also be expected to assist the manager in charge to ensure that the log scaling operations is professionally managed and well run. The role requires someone who has great teamwork skills, is confident and has knowledge of the National Standards and has a solid understanding of log scaling practices, the Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.

This role is very hands on and will require the person to assist in a variety of roles outside of the log scaling area.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• Some previous experience working in a log/timber yard is preferred but not essential
