Job summary

Aurizon is seeking Qualified Locomotive Drivers to be based at our Toowoomba depot, Brisbane area. The role suits individuals with strong teamwork, flexibility, safety awareness and customer service focus.

Key duties include operating locomotives (mainline, shunting and yard), certifying trains for departure, applying best-practice train management, and adhering to Aurizon safety standards. You will work a 24/7 roster and engage with industrial agreements relevant to the position.

Qualifications

• Experience in locomotive operation and rail safety standards.
• Commitment to safe, on-time train operations.

Responsibilities

Job description

Aurizon are currently seeking Qualified Locomotive Drivers who will be based at our Toowoomba depot. These roles will be suited to an individual who is able to display superior teamwork skills, flexibility, a high level of safety awareness and customer service.

• Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting and yard operations.
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure
• Apply 'best practice' train management techniques to ensure efficient and safe train operations.
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's safety and operational standards and procedures
• Contribute to continuous performance improvement
• Work in accordance with Aurizon's award and other industrial agreements relevant to the position of Locomotive Driver

About you:

• Certificate IV in Rail Operations
• Experience in QLD Safeworking Systems (preferred)
• West Morten route competencies well regarded
• A strong commitment to safety
• Ability to work a 24/7 shift work roster including availability to work weekends / provision toilets as required on trains
