Job summary

Maxima Recruitment Services – Tewantin QLD is seeking an experienced Local Laws Officer for a casual assignment out of Tewantin, on a 5 of 7 roster that may include weekends and out-of-hours work, at an hourly rate of $53.47 plus super.

You will enforce Local Laws and policies with emphasis on information, education and self-regulation, investigate and resolve complaints, deliver community education and maintain records.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to undertake complex investigations in a regulatory environment.
• Sound knowledge of local laws, policies and procedures; ability to learn relevant state legislation.
• Physical ability to perform Local Laws duties.
• Proven ability to work in a high performing, customer‑focused team.
• Proven ability to deliver accurate, timely customer service with sound judgement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with the public, groups and businesses.
• Good time management, prioritisation and organisational skills with minimal supervision.
• Strong research, analysis and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve complaints, including serving notices to seek compliance with Local Laws and regulations.
• Deliver education programs to the community on regulatory matters and safety.
• Enforce impound procedures and other legislative requirements.
• Maintain and update records to ensure information is current.
• Act as an ambassador for Council in community interactions and provide accurate information.
• Gather evidence for prosecutions, issue infringement notices and appear as a witness.
• Patrol beaches, parks and other Council land for breaches and take action per policy.
