Job summary

City of Monash is seeking a proactive officer to administer and enforce Local Laws, Animal Control and Community Laws with courteous interpretation of legislation. You will investigate compliance, gather evidence, issue infringements and prepare briefs of evidence to support court action.

The role requires rostered Monday–Friday and weekend/evening shifts, a Victorian Driver's Licence, and pre-employment checks. The Council offers flexible work, health programs and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation or Local Government (Regulatory Services) desirable.
• Maintaining a current Victorian Driver's Licence is mandatory.
• Right to work in Australia.
• Employee Working with Children's Check.
• Pre-employment medical assessment.
• Satisfactory National Police Check.
• Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.

Responsibilities

• Investigate a range of legislative controls focusing on, but not limited to, animal management, protection of amenity through Local Laws, rubbish dumping and parking.
• Gather evidence, issue infringements and prepare briefs of evidence and reports that support the giving of evidence as a witness to achieve successful outcomes.
• Impound and dispose of abandoned vehicles, shopping trolleys and illegal signs in accordance with Council's Policies and Procedures.
• Participation in rostered Monday to Friday shifts and weekend shifts, regular weekend and after-hours work (overtime and allowances will apply).
