Job summary

Maddocks in Canberra is seeking a Lawyer with 1-2 years PQE to join the Dispute Resolution & Litigation team. You will handle a diverse range of matters including commissions and inquiries, historic abuse claims, contract disputes, defamation and regulatory matters for public sector clients, under the guidance of Partner Rosalie Byrne in a collaborative team.

The work is complex and you will be mentored to grow your professional skills, with mentoring and a supportive culture.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years post admission experience in litigation, disputes or government law.
• Strong drafting and research skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Impressive academic qualifications.
• Engaging with excellent communication at all levels.
• Proactive approach and a desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and prepare advice.
• Draft court documents, submissions and correspondence.
• Prepare briefs and evidence.
• Assist with hearings, conferences and mediations.
• Assist with discovery and document review processes.
• Work directly with clients and counsel.
