Job summary

Somerville Secondary College is seeking a Learning Specialist in literacy to drive targeted literacy and numeracy support across Year 7–12. The role focuses on coaching staff, implementing Tier 2/3 interventions, and using data to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies.

Qualifications

• Registered or eligible for Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.
• Experience in literacy and numeracy instruction across the curriculum.
• Ability to lead professional learning and mentoring for staff.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor teaching staff to build capacity in evidence-based literacy and numeracy instruction.
• Design, implement, and evaluate targeted literacy and numeracy support programs (Tier 2/3).
• Identify students needing additional support and monitor progress with data.
• Collaborate with staff to align support programs with school curriculum goals.
• Lead professional learning aligned with literacy improvement strategies.
• Communicate program goals, progress and outcomes to the school community.
