Job summary

Apprenticeships Are Us is offering a 2027 Early Acceptance program for a 1st Year Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice at Rushcutters Bay, NSW. You will train in a premium dealership environment while earning wages and completing the AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

You'll work with experienced technicians, gain hands-on skills in servicing, diagnostics and preventative maintenance, and progress toward becoming a qualified light vehicle mechanic.

Qualifications

• Year 12 completion by start of apprenticeship.
• Australian citizen or permanent resident eligibility considered.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine vehicle servicing and maintenance under supervision.
• Assist with diagnosis and repair of mechanical faults.
• Inspect braking, steering and suspension systems and assist with engine/drivetrain work.
• Follow manufacturer specifications and use diagnostic equipment as directed.
• Maintain a clean, safe workshop and assist others as needed.

You'll complete your AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology while earning a wage and developing practical skills across vehicle servicing, mechanical repairs, diagnostics and preventative maintenance.

What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside qualified technicians, you'll develop hands‑on skills in:

• Carrying out routine vehicle servicing and scheduled maintenance.

• Assisting with the diagnosis and repair of mechanical faults.

• Inspecting and repairing braking, steering and suspension systems.

• Assisting with engine and drivetrain repairs.

• Replacing worn or damaged mechanical components.

• Carrying out vehicle inspections and safety checks.

• Learning to use modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology.

• Checking and replacing fluids, filters and other service components.

• Following manufacturer specifications and repair procedures.

• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.

As your skills and confidence develop, you'll gradually take on more complex servicing, diagnostic and repair work under the guidance of experienced technicians.

About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and genuinely interested in building a long‑term career in the automotive industry.

To be considered for this 2027 Early Acceptance position, you must:

• Have completed Year 12 by the commencement of the apprenticeship.

• Hold a current P1 driver's licence or higher.

• Have a genuine passion for cars and automotive mechanics.

• Be hands‑on and mechanically minded.

• Have a positive attitude and strong willingness to learn.

• Demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic.

• Have excellent attention to detail.

• Present professionally and be comfortable working in a premium dealership environment.

• Be able to listen, follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

• Have good communication and problem‑solving skills.

• Be able to reliably travel to Rushcutters Bay, NSW.

Previous workshop experience or a Certificate II is not required. We’re looking for someone with the right attitude, genuine interest in automotive and commitment to completing your apprenticeship.
