Apprenticeships Are Us in NSW is seeking motivated 1st Year Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprentices for opportunities across Melrose Park and surrounding areas. You will begin your apprenticeship and gain hands-on experience while completing the AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

You’ll work with qualified automotive technicians in major dealerships or independent workshops, gaining practical vehicle servicing, diagnosing and repair experience as you learn.

Responsibilities

• Learn servicing and maintenance on real vehicles.

• Use modern diagnostic equipment and tools.

With opportunities available across both a major automotive dealership and a professional independent mechanical workshop, this is a great chance to start your apprenticeship and gain valuable hands‑on experience in the automotive industry.

You’ll work alongside qualified automotive technicians while completing your AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, developing the practical skills and knowledge needed to become a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary depending on your host workshop, but you’ll learn how to:

• Assist with diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
• Inspect and repair braking, steering and suspension systems.
• Assist with engine repairs and mechanical component replacement.
• Carry out oil, filter and fluid changes.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, testing and safety checks.
• Use modern diagnostic equipment and workshop technology.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools and specialised automotive equipment.
• Follow manufacturer and workshop repair procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is genuinely interested in becoming a qualified mechanic and is ready to commit to their apprenticeship.

You’ll ideally have:

• A genuine passion for automotive mechanics.
• A hands‑on and mechanically minded approach.
• A willingness to learn and take direction.
• A strong work ethic and reliable attitude.
• Good attention to detail.
• Practical problem‑solving skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a workshop team.
• A current driver’s licence (P1 or above preferred).
• The ability to reliably travel to your allocated host employer.

No experience? No problem. Previous automotive experience or a Certificate II is not required. Your attitude, reliability and commitment to completing your apprenticeship are what matter.
