Job summary

Churches of Christ in Queensland's Bribie Island Aged Care in Bongaree, QLD is seeking a Lifestyle Assistant for casual, temporary cover. You will help deliver leisure activities that support residents' wellbeing and reflect their interests, abilities and life stories.

Guided by our Positive Wellbeing Model of Care, you will work with the care team to run meaningful individual and group programs, encourage participation, maintain records and ensure person-centred, safe care.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Aged Care or relevant qualification.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• National Police Certificate.
• Unlimited Australian work rights.
• Experience delivering leisure, lifestyle or health programs in aged care.

Responsibilities

• Assist development and delivery of meaningful individual and group activities.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities matching their preferences and abilities.
• Support residents' personal care needs as required.
• Assist with regular review and improvement of activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including activity records and evaluations.
• Collaborate to provide safe, respectful and person-centred care.

About the Role

Working alongside our care team, you will help deliver leisure and recreational activities that enhance residents' psychological, spiritual, social and physical wellbeing.

Guided by our Positive Wellbeing Model of Care, you'll support residents to stay connected, pursue their interests and participate in activities that bring purpose and enjoyment to their day.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the development and delivery of meaningful individual and group activities.

• Encouraging residents to participate in ways that suit their preferences, interests and abilities.

• Supporting residents' personal care needs as required.

• Assisting with the regular review and improvement of activities.

• Maintaining accurate documentation, including activity records and evaluations of individual resident programs and plans.

• Working collaboratively to provide safe, respectful and person-centred care.

About You

You bring warmth, creativity and enthusiasm to your work, along with an understanding that meaningful engagement starts with getting to know each resident and what matters to them.

You will have:

• Relevant experience providing leisure, lifestyle or health programs in aged care or a similar environment.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with residents, families and colleagues.

• Basic computer skills, including email and electronic documentation.

• A flexible approach and sound problem-solving skills.

• A commitment to safety, quality care and continuous improvement.

• An understanding of Christian principles and a willingness to support the mission and values of Churches of Christ.

A Certificate III in Aged Care or a relevant qualification, along with current First Aid and CPR certificates, would be highly regarded.

You will also need a current National Police Certificate, or the ability to obtain one, as well as unlimited Australian work rights.
