Job summary

Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is seeking passionate Lifeguards to supervise designated patrol areas, proactively manage beach and water safety risks, provide public safety advice, and respond to emergency situations with confidence and professionalism. Every day presents a new opportunity to protect lives and contribute to a safer community.

The role includes incident reporting, equipment checks, and supporting safety education programs for the public.

Qualifications

• Bronze Medallion, First Aid, and Resuscitation certificates required or in progress.
• Working with Children Blue Card or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to pass beach/lagoon fitness testing and maintain fitness standards.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol designated beach or lagoon areas.
• Establish and maintain safe bathing areas for the public.
• Identify and manage hazards to minimise risks.
• Respond to emergencies and perform rescues, first aid, and resuscitation when required.
• Complete incident reporting and operational documentation.
• Conduct equipment and vehicle checks to ensure readiness.
• Support community water safety education programs.

What You’ll Do:

• Monitor and patrol designated beach or lagoon areas.

About You:

• SLS Bronze Medallion and Certificate II in Public Safety (or equivalent)
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
• Hold a current Working with Children Blue Card or have the ability to obtain
• Ability to successfully complete required beach or lagoon fitness testing
• A genuine commitment to child safety and wellbeing
• Calm and decisive under pressure
• Passionate about community safety
• Physically fit and capable of meeting operational requirements
• Professional, reliable, and approachable
