Job summary

Perpetual Wealth is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide high-quality legal services, support, and solutions to the PW business, including trustee services and native title matters. The role is offered as a 12-month maximum-term contract covering parental leave, with a hybrid work model and the ability to work from anywhere in Australia.

You will advise on governance, review agreements, manage external counsel, and stay ahead of legal developments impacting PW.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in law and current practising certificate, or admission to practice as a solicitor in Australia.
• 2–3 years post-qualification experience, ideally with wills and estates exposure.
• Litigation experience will be viewed favourably.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality legal services and support to the PW business within commercially oriented timeframes.
• Instruct and manage external legal advisors, particularly for outsourced litigation.
• Respond to queries and issues to enable efficient resolution.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review, negotiate and manage legal issues.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal developments affecting PW businesses.

About the Role

As Legal Counsel for Perpetual Wealth (PW), you will provide high-quality legal services, support and solutions to the PW business, including traditional trustee services, Native Title and the fiduciary division. This role is offered as a 12-month maximum term contract covering a period of parental leave.

• Providing sound legal advice to business units, which is supported by the legal team, within agreed commercially oriented timeframes.
• Instructing and managing external legal advisors, particularly for managing outsourced litigation.
• Following through on queries and issues to ensure efficient resolution.
• Working with internal stakeholders to review, negotiate and manage legal issues.
• Maintaining up to date and relevant knowledge of legal developments which may affect the PW businesses.

About you

We're looking for someone with:

• A bachelor's degree in law and a current practicing certificate, or admission to practice as a solicitor in an Australian jurisdiction.
• At least 2-3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained in an environment where there has been exposure to wills and estates. Litigation experience will be viewed favourably.
