Job description

Brisbane Southside | Up to $130k + super (FTE) | Full-time or Part-time

An experienced career paralegal looking to step up? Or a seasoned lawyer looking to step back and put your legal experience to work in a different way?

This could be a great opportunity for either.

Our client is a highly successful and established national retail group with an extensive network of locations across Australia. With a strong focus on systems, efficiency and continued growth, the business is looking to appoint someone to take ownership of its legal documentation, commercial property matters and associated corporate processes.

Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, you will manage a broad range of legal and commercial processes, coordinate external legal advisers and help ensure matters progress efficiently.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing commercial leasing documentation, renewals and associated property matters;
  • Coordinating documentation relating to property acquisitions, new developments and business transactions;
  • Assisting with franchise agreements and associated documentation;
  • Maintaining corporate records, governance registers and company secretarial processes;
  • Coordinating partnership, shareholder and other corporate documentation;
  • Reviewing standard commercial agreements and managing documentation processes; and
  • Liaising with external lawyers to ensure matters progress efficiently and appropriate legal advice is obtained.

Importantly, this is not a traditional in-house Legal position. The business has established relationships with external lawyers who will continue to provide specialist legal advice. Instead, the focus is on managing the day-to-day legal documentation and processes, ensuring matters are handled accurately and efficiently.

About You

We're open-minded about your professional background.

You might be an experienced career paralegal who would welcome the opportunity to move in-house and take on greater responsibility. Equally, you could be a qualified lawyer who enjoys the practical side of legal work but is looking for something different from a traditional legal advisory role.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Strong experience in commercial property, particularly leasing;
  • Exposure to broader commercial and corporate documentation;
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational and document management skills;
  • The maturity and confidence to work autonomously with senior stakeholders and external lawyers; and
  • A practical, methodical approach and an appreciation for well-run systems and processes.

Experience in retail, franchising or an in-house environment would be advantageous but is not essential.

What's on Offer?
  • Excellent remuneration – up to $130,000 plus superannuation (FTE), depending on experience;
  • Genuine flexibility – full-time or part-time arrangements, including four-day weeks or school-hours arrangements;
  • Autonomy and ownership – take responsibility for a varied range of legal and commercial processes; and
  • Established national business – work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team in a successful, growing organisation.

The position is office-based in Brisbane's southern suburbs.
