Job summary

u&u Recruitment is seeking a Leasing Paralegal to join its in-house legal team in Sydney. You will manage a busy retail leasing portfolio, review leases, and support senior lawyers with drafting and negotiations.

The role offers hands-on mentorship, opportunities to streamline workflows and a flexible hybrid arrangement (three days in the office, two days remote).

Qualifications

• Experience as Leasing Paralegal or property-focused legal support.
• Strong knowledge of NSW retail leasing legislation.
• Independent review of lease documentation with renewals and registrations.
• Highly organised with ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive, solutions-focused, with initiative to improve processes.
• Strong communicator capable of building relationships with stakeholders.
• Desire to develop commercial skills within the broader legal function.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and DocuSign; experience with workflow tools is valued.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high volume of leasing matters including new leases, renewals, variations, licences and surrenders.
• Independently review lease documentation, identify issues and recommend amendments.
• Coordinate lease execution through DocuSign and manage stamping, registrations and PEXA workspaces.
• Prepare and update lease documentation, templates and precedents.
• Track leasing matters and provide regular status reports to internal stakeholders.
• Liaise with landlords, managing agents, external solicitors and internal property teams.
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and introduce automation.
• Collaborate with the wider legal team on projects and initiatives.

The role

• Prepare and update lease documentation, templates and precedents, ensuring accuracy and consistency;
• Track leasing matters and prepare regular status reports for internal stakeholders;
• Liaise with landlords, managing agents, external solicitors and internal property teams to keep transactions progressing;
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve processes and introduce automation; and
• Work collaboratively with the wider legal team on projects and initiatives, broadening your exposure beyond day-to-day leasing.

About you

• Previous experience in a Leasing Paralegal or similar property-focused legal support role;
• Strong experience across retail leasing, ideally with knowledge of NSW retail leasing legislation;
• Confident reviewing lease documentation independently, with experience in lease renewals, registrations and PEXA;
• Highly organised, comfortable managing competing priorities and able to hit the ground running;
• Proactive and solutions-focused, with the confidence to take initiative and suggest better ways of working;
• A strong communicator who enjoys building relationships and working collaboratively with different stakeholders;
• Interested in developing your commercial skills, learning from others and contributing to the broader legal function; and
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and DocuSign, with exposure to workflow automation tools such as Power Automate or Copilot highly regarded.
