Maurice Blackburn Lawyers in Melbourne seeks a legal assistant to support the Super & Insurance Claims team on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role may be full-time or 4 days per week, providing high-quality administrative and legal support from end-to-end management of claims.

This is a great opportunity to deepen experience in a specialist practice area, with potential for secondment. You’ll work with a collaborative team, handling file administration, client liaising, and drafting

Qualifications

• Experience in superannuation or insurance claims, or as a legal assistant in plaintiff litigation.
• Knowledge of superannuation, insurance or personal injury processes (desirable).
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to manage client expectations.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Competence in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail; ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Alignment with Maurice Blackburn's values.

Responsibilities

• Administer claims files and maintain accurate records.
• Be the first point of contact for client enquiries; liaise with funds, insurers, medical professionals and others to progress matters.
• Chase medical reports and insurer documentation to meet deadlines.
• Draft accounts, follow up payments and maintain disbursement spreadsheets.
• Manage team diaries and appointments.
• Draft, type and collate correspondence and documents.
• Collaborate with other legal assistants and contribute to a safe working environment.
