Job summary

The University of Melbourne invites applications for a Lecturer in Social Work (Field Education) to coordinate MSW field education and create transformative learning experiences for students. You will work with students, educators and placement partners to match opportunities with learning goals and contribute to teaching, innovation and scholarship in social work.

Role is full-time and continuing, with a strong emphasis on supervision, field education delivery and ensuring high-quality

Qualifications

• Hold a PhD or advanced social work practice profile and eligibility for Australian Association of Social Workers membership.
• Five years' post-qualification social work experience, ideally including supervisory, placement or educational responsibilities.
• Excellence in teaching and student engagement with commitment to innovative practice education approaches.
• Clear and collaborative communication with students, agencies and colleagues.
• Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and issue management skills in complex placement settings.
• Contribute to research or scholarship in field education or social work practice development.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and enhance MSW field education, creating safe, high-quality and transformative practice learning experiences.
• Work closely with students, educators and placement agencies to match learning opportunities to students' goals.
• Contribute to teaching, innovation and scholarship that strengthen social work education and professional practice.
• Develop and coordinate diverse social work placements that provide high-quality, safe and inclusive practice learning experiences.
• Supervise, liaise and visit placements to support students and placement educators in practice settings.
• Assess and progress placements through visits, evaluating capabilities and addressing learning needs.
• Support students experiencing placement challenges and negotiate solutions with agencies and coordinators.
• Collaborate on field education subject delivery, integration seminars and innovations linking learning to professional practice.
