Job summary

The NSW Department of Education is seeking a School Learning Support Officer to assist students with identified diverse learning needs within classrooms and other learning environments under teacher direction. The role includes student welfare, health and wellbeing tasks as required.

Responsibilities may extend across streams such as pre-school, vision and hearing support, and bilingual settings, with training provided as needed and a focus on collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance required
• Mandatory training as per Department of Education requirements
• First aid training relevant to the role to be undertaken
• Administration of medications training to be provided based on student needs
• Health support training to be provided based on student needs
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities
• Awareness of the needs of students with such disabilities
• Effective communication skills
