Job summary

Emmanuel College on the Gold Coast is seeking an enthusiastic Learning Support Educational Assistant to join our Senior School team on a permanent part-time basis, 3 days per week, from Term 1, 2027.

You will support Year 7–10 students with disabilities and diverse learning needs, collaborating closely with classroom teachers and our Learning Support team to deliver targeted, individual and small‑group assistance, literacy support, and inclusive learning approaches that build confidence and

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in School Based Education Support or equivalent qualification.
• Current Working with Children Blue Card and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Experience supporting students with learning challenges, disabilities or additional learning needs.
• Strong literacy and English communication skills.
• Understanding of inclusive education and fostering independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group learning support within the classroom.
• Assist teachers with the implementation of learning adjustments, differentiated activities and individual student support strategies.
• Support literacy, classroom tasks, organisation and assessment requirements.
• Encourage student independence, engagement and positive social interactions.
• Prepare and adapt learning resources to meet diverse student needs.
• Support student wellbeing and inclusion through social clubs and other College activities.
• Assist with student learning records, documentation and general Learning Support administration.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and Learning Support staff to provide consistent and effective student support.

About the Role

As a Learning Support Educational Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting Senior School students with disabilities and additional learning needs to engage confidently in their education and reach their individual potential.

Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and our Learning Support team, you will provide individual and small-group assistance to students in Years 7-10, predominantly across English, Humanities and Science.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people, understands that every student learns differently and is passionate about helping students build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Demonstrate

• A personal commitment to Jesus Christ, active involvement in a local Christian church and alignment with the College's Statement of Faith.
• Previous classroom experience supporting students with learning challenges, disabilities or additional learning needs.
• Strong literacy and English communication skills, with the confidence to support students across a range of curriculum areas.
• An understanding of inclusive education practices and the importance of fostering student independence.
• A patient, compassionate and adaptable approach, with the ability to build positive and respectful relationships with young people.
• Strong organisational skills, initiative and the ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and Learning Support staff.
• Sound ICT skills and confidence using digital learning platforms.
• A current Working with Children Blue Card and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain these.

A Certificate IV in School Based Education Support, or equivalent relevant qualification, is highly regarded but not essential.
