Job summary

Chairo Christian School is seeking Learning Support Assistants for its Traralgon campus to commence in Term 1 next year. You will support students with learning needs within a caring Christian community, liaising with teachers and preparing resources to enhance classroom learning.

The role emphasizes strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and alignment with the school’s Statement of Faith. Experience in learning support is desirable, with background checks and a faith-compatible approach

Responsibilities

• Provide a godly example to students and staff through practice and relationships.

• Maintain records related to learning support activities and programs.
• Attend camps and excursions with students as required.
• Prepare resources to support student learning.
• Provide general support to teachers in the classroom.
• Provide feedback to teachers on student academic and social progress.

Chairo Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school with 1,900 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five picturesque campuses in West and South Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the south-eastern outskirts of Melbourne.

We are currently seeking the services of Learning Support Assistants to work at our Traralgon campus, commencing in Term 1 next year.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a caring Christian environment and provide important assistance to the students and teaching staff in delivering high-quality care and Christian education to students requiring support for their specific learning needs.

Some key responsibilities will include the following:

• Providing a godly example to students and fellow staff members through their practice, manner, relationships and general lifestyle
• Liaising with subject teachers about students and curriculum requirements
• Assisting students with special needs in the classroom and in private study, as well as exam or testing situations
• Maintaining appropriate records with regards to learning support activities and programs
• Attending camps and excursions with students if required
• Preparing resources to support student learning
• Providing general support to teachers in the classroom
• Providing feedback to the classroom teacher with regards to a student’s academic and social progress

The successful candidate/s will have the following:

• Demonstrated commitment to the school’s Statement of Faith
• Qualifications and experience in learning support or related fields (desirable)
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
