Job summary

Chairo Christian School in Leongatha invites applications for Learning Support Assistants to join our Leongatha campus from Term 1 next year. This role supports students with learning needs within a caring Christian community.

The successful candidate will support teachers, assist students in classroom and private study, maintain records, and participate in camps and excursions as required. Commitment to the school's Statement of Faith and collaborative teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Providing a godly example to students and staff through practice, manner, relationships and lifestyle.
• Liaising with subject teachers about students and curriculum requirements.
• Assisting students with special needs in classroom and private study, as well as exam or testing situations.
• Maintaining records related to learning support activities and programs.
• Attending camps and excursions with students if required.
• Preparing resources to support student learning.
• Providing general support to teachers in the classroom.
• Providing feedback to the classroom teacher about a student’s academic and social progress.

Chairo Christian School is a non-denominational Christian school with 1,900 Kinder to Year 12 students attending five picturesque campuses in West and South Gippsland, the Latrobe Valley and the south-eastern outskirts of Melbourne.

We are currently seeking the services of one or more Learning Support Assistants to work at our Leongatha campus, commencing in Term 1 next year.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a caring Christian environment and provide important assistance to the students and teaching staff in delivering high-quality care and Christian education to students requiring support for their specific learning needs.

Some key responsibilities will include the following:

• Providing a godly example to students and fellow staff members through their practice, manner, relationships and general lifestyle

• Assisting students with special needs in the classroom and in private study, as well as exam or testing situations
• Maintaining appropriate records with regards to learning support activities and programs
• Attending camps and excursions with students if required

• Providing general support to teachers in the classroom
• Providing feedback to the classroom teacher with regards to a student’s academic and social progress
