Job summary

Firbank Grammar School in Brighton, Turner House Campus, Melbourne, seeks a dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support students with learning or behavioural needs in the classroom and, when required, withdrawal sessions.

The role is part-time (0.7 FTE), 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday during term time, with an immediate start and a focus on collaboration with teachers, families and the Learning Strategies Team to progress student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent is required.
• Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioural needs is essential.
• Current Working with Children Check and First Aid/CPR certifications or willingness to obtain.

Job description

Firbank Grammar is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to work at our Brighton, Turner House Campus. The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) is responsible for assisting with the academic, instructional, behavioural and adaptive needs of students in their care with learning or behavioural needs.

The position involves working collaboratively with teachers so that the students who have specific learning and behavioural needs are able to access extra support. This support is delivered predominantly within the classroom but may on occasions involve withdrawal support.

The role requires an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) who has previously worked with students with additional needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative and a strong understanding of how to effectively support both students and classroom teachers.

Job Details

Part-time, 8:30am-3:30pm Mondays to Fridays, during school term times only (0.70FTE). Immediate start.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the academic, instructional, behavioural, and adaptive needs of students with learning or behavioural needs.
• Collaborate closely with students, teaching staff and families, developing positive rapport.
• Collaborate with the Learning Strategies Team when required, so they can assess, report, monitor and record student learning progress.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of a Certificate III in Education Support, but Certificate IV preferred.
• Experience workingwith students with diverse learning and behavioural needs in a schoolenvironment is essential.
• Current Working with Children Check Registration (or willingness to obtain one)
• First Aid and CPR Certificates (or willingness to obtain one)

Salary Details

Total package of $47,000 - $53,000 (0.7TE) inclusive of superannuation and leave loading (determined by relevant qualifications and experience).
