Job summary

The Cathedral School of St Anne & St James in Mundingburra, Townsville, is seeking a dedicated Middle/Senior School Teaching & Learning Assistant to support students with learning goals and to assist teachers and staff in delivering tailored support programs. This part-time, term-time role runs 8:00am–3:10pm, 33.25 hours per week, during term time.

You will work under the guidance of the Head of Learning Enrichment and Learning Support staff to help with individual and small-group learning,

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent skills and experience.
• Current Working with Children Check/Blue Card, or eligibility to obtain one.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Experience in a school setting with understanding of behaviour management, WHS and inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Work with students individually and in small groups under the direction of classroom teachers.
• Assist with the implementation of individual and small-group support programs documented in students' plans.
• Prepare and organise classroom, school and specialised learning resources to support student learning goals.
• Monitor student performance, share observations and assist teachers with record keeping and reporting information.
• Provide supervision and support during classroom activities, playground duties, excursions, school sport and other school events as required.
• Assist with general administrative and resource duties, including filing, photocopying, preparing student files and caring for department equipment and materials.
