Job summary

Shellharbour City Council is seeking an enthusiastic Learn to Swim Instructor to inspire confidence and promote water safety in the local community. You will deliver engaging swimming lessons and promote the Swim School, while ensuring safety and excellent customer service.

The role offers part-time permanent hours (15.2 per week up to 38), with shifts Mon-Sun, including Saturdays, and a salary starting at 498.98 AUD per week with penalties for weekend work.

Qualifications

• Current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety Certificate with a Nationally Registered Organisation.
• Current Provide First Aid certification from a registered training provider.
• Annual CPR competency maintained.
• Possession of a valid Working with Children Check clearance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with the public.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
• Experience in delivering Learn to Swim lessons and a commitment to quality improvement.

As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and professional swimming lessons tailored to various skill levels. Your expertise will help individuals thrive in the water and develop a lifelong love for swimming.

This position requires a commitment to safety, teamwork, and excellence in customer service.

You will have the chance to work a minimum of 15.20 hours per week, up to 38 hours per week, providing flexibility to fit your lifestyle.

• Complying with all approved cash‑handling procedures and performing reception duties where required.

What we offer:

• Permanent part-time, 15.2 hours per week with the opportunity, working a variety of shifts Monday - Sunday. A Saturday shift is a requirement within the 15.2 hours. Shifts can be 8am – 1pm and 3pm – 7pm (times vary during seasons) Days can change and are dependent on operational structure.
• Commencing salary range from $498.98 - $550.92 per week, for 15.2 hour (dependent on qualifications and experience)
• Additional penalty rates are paid to the ordinary hourly rate of pay for Saturday/Sunday shifts

Please Note:

• This position requires a current "Working with Children Check" clearance in accordance with the 'Child Protection (WWC) Act 2012 for Paid workers
• You will need to complete a Pre-placement Medical Assessment
• As part of the recruitment process, you will need to complete an In Water Assessment with a Shellharbour City Council senior instructor on another day which is booked following your interview.
