Job summary

Evolution Mining is seeking a Shift Leading Hand to help run the Cowal mining crew on site. You’ll be the go-to person on shift, ensuring safety, hitting production targets, and keeping operations on track.

This hands-on role requires leading prestart meetings, managing the shift board, supervising crews, and supporting training and future leadership opportunities. A current driver’s licence and experience with heavy gear are essential.

Qualifications

• Seven years plus experience with heavy gear in open cut mining, quarries or road construction.
• Proven supervisory experience and ability to manage people and deliver results.
• Safety-focused with strong decision-making under pressure.
• Organised communicator able to work effectively with others.
• Current driver’s license; Cert IV TAE would be a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety standards, address hazards and ensure high-quality work.

What’s the opportunity?

We’re looking for a Shift Leading Hand to help run our mining crew at Cowal. You’ll be the go-to person on shift, making sure the team is working safely, hitting production targets, and keeping things running smoothly.

• You’ll lead prestart meetings and set up the shift board so everyone knows what they’re doing.
• You’ll keep an eye on safety, deal with any hazards, and make sure the crew is working to the highest standards.
• You’ll be the first point of contact for crew issues and help manage leave, rosters, and performance reviews.
• You’ll support training and development for the team and help plan for future leadership.

This role is hands-on and fast-paced, and you’ll be working closely with operators, supervisors, and other teams to get the job done right.

• You’ve got at least seven years’ experience working with heavy gear in open cut mining, quarries or road construction.

• You’re organised, a clear communicator, and can work well with others.
• You’ve got a current driver’s licence, and a Cert IV TAE would be a bonus.
