Komatsu Australia is seeking a Leading Hand Tradesman to support and coordinate our mining maintenance team in Queensland. You’ll stay connected to the technical side while taking ownership of safety, work allocation and team performance.

This role requires a trade qualification in heavy mobile equipment, hands-on supervision, and strong problem-solving skills. You’ll mentor technicians, liaise with planners, and help maintain OEM standards across the site.

• Trade qualification or equivalent in heavy mobile equipment maintenance.
• Proven supervisory or Leading Hand experience.
• Strong problem-solving and technical troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent safety awareness and site procedures knowledge.

Komatsu Australia is looking for an experienced and motivated Leading Hand Tradesman to support and coordinate our mining maintenance team in Queensland.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced tradesperson who enjoys taking ownership, supporting others and being involved in the day-to-day coordination of maintenance activities.

You’ll remain connected to the technical side of the work while taking on greater responsibility for safety, work allocation, quality and team performance.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Coordinating daily maintenance activities across technicians, HV electricians and subcontractors.
• Allocating work priorities and ensuring teams have the right information, tools and resources.
• Providing technical guidance and hands-on support to maintenance personnel.
• Supporting pre-start meetings, risk assessments and safe work practices.
• Working closely with maintenance planners and operational teams to keep work progressing.
• Monitoring work quality and ensuring maintenance activities meet OEM standards.
• Maintaining accurate job documentation, shift reports and maintenance records.
• Supporting communication, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Role Located: Blackwater Region, QLD

Roster: Roster: 7:7 day/night, 12.5 hour shifts.

What We Are Looking For

• Relevant trade qualification in heavy mobile equipment maintenance or a related technical discipline.
• Strong experience maintaining and repairing heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Previous Leading Hand, supervisory or team coordination experience.
• Confidence allocating work, supporting tradespeople and managing competing priorities.
• Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent safety awareness and understanding of mine site procedures.
• Good communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
• A proactive, supportive leadership style.

Highly regarded:

• Experience with Komatsu 930E haul trucks, WA1200 loaders or large excavators.
• Previous OEM training and experience.
• Standard 11, S1/S2/S3 and G2 qualifications.
• Familiarity with Dynamics, RMC or similar maintenance management systems.

Candidates must be able to meet applicable Queensland coal mining medical and induction requirements.
