Job summary

Ausco Modular Mackay is seeking a hands-on Leading Hand to supervise a small team and ensure repairs, refurbishment and presentation of modular buildings for hire. You will lead daily tasks, coordinate deliveries and maintain quality standards on a permanent, full-time basis.

You will operate a forklift, manage workloads, coach teammates, and uphold safety standards while delivering on-time handovers to customers. A strong work ethic and independent problem-solving are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Leading Hand capable of leading a small team to deliver quality work on time.
• Must have Forklift (High Risk) Licence and Drivers Licence.
• Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring others.
• Good computer proficiency - Microsoft suite including Teams and Outlook.
• Knowledge of construction, building or modular is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited on-site leadership support.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance & upgrades on the hire fleet
• Operate forklift to load/unload modules and equipment
• Inspect, test, clean & prepare modular assets and equipment for re-hire
• Help coordinate deliveries, pickups, and yard movements
• Keep records up to date, accurate and support with stocktakes
• Handle customer handovers and queries
• Lead and coordinate a small team to safely deliver quality work on time
• Allocate daily tasks based on team skills, workloads and operational priorities
• Conduct pre-starts, toolbox talks and team meetings
• Coach, mentor and develop team members to build capability and performance
• Monitor safety, quality and productivity, addressing issues and risks as they arise
• Ensure compliance with company procedures and safety standards
• Champion a strong safety culture and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• Lead by example, fostering a positive, accountable and team-oriented work environment

We're looking for a hands-on Leading Hand to join our team in Mackay. You’ll be responsible for preparing and refurbishing Ausco's Modular Buildings for hire, ensuring they are presented to a high standard and meet customer expectations. You'll bring a strong work ethic, commitment to safe work practices and a positive approach to working as part of a team.

What you'll Need:

• Drivers Licence
• Forklift (High Risk) Licence
• Working at Heights Ticket
• Ability to use hand tools to complete maintenance and repairs
• Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring others
• Good computer proficiency - Microsoft suite including Teams and Outlook
• Knowledge of construction, building or modular preferred
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with limited on-site leadership support
