Job summary

Randstad's client in the Sydney Airport area seeks an experienced Leading Hand to oversee day-to-day site operations on a major $40M mixed-use residential development. The project features 50 modern units, commercial spaces and a single-level basement, with a close working relationship to a senior Project Manager and Site Manager.

Applicants should have proven residential construction experience, a trade background, and strong leadership to coordinate subcontractors, QA processes, and safety

Responsibilities

• Site Supervision: direct subcontractors, trades and labor to progress works safely and on schedule.
• Quality & QA/QC: conduct site inspections and maintain high finishes standards.
• Safety & Compliance: lead inductions, enforce WHS policies and toolbox talks.
• Trade Coordination: oversee material deliveries and short-term lookahead planning.

Job Title: Leading Hand | High-End Residential Construction
Location: Sydney Airport Area, NSW
Package: $160,000 - $180,000 Total Package (commensurate with experience)

Our client, a respected and growing builder, is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join their team on a major $40M mixed-use residential development located near the Sydney Airport area.

This project comprises 50 modern residential units, commercial spaces, and a single-level basement. It offers the ideal opportunity for a driven site supervisor or experienced carpenter looking to step up and run daily site operations alongside a senior Project Manager and Site Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Supervision: Manage day-to-day site operations, directing subcontractors, trades, and site labor to ensure works progress safely and on schedule.
• Quality & QA/QC: Conduct regular site inspections, enforce high finishes standards, and manage structural through to fit-out quality assurance logs.
• Safety & Compliance: Lead site inductions, enforce WHS policies, hold daily toolbox talks, and maintain a safe working environment.
• Trade Coordination: Oversee material deliveries, trade scheduling, short-term lookahead programming, and problem-solve daily site challenges.

About You

• Experience: Proven experience in residential construction (multi-unit residential or apartment builds highly regarded).
• Trade Background: Trade background or relevant trade qualification preferred.
• Leadership: Strong communication skills with a proven track record of managing subcontractors and site crews effectively.
• Project Exposure: Prior experience working on structural concrete works through to detailed internal fit-outs.
