Job summary

Nyblad Construction is seeking a Leading Hand Carpenter / Senior Carpenter to join our Sunshine Coast renovation team. This hands-on role keeps you on the tools while running a manageable number of renovation projects.

You’ll lead carpenters and subcontractors, plan daily works, and coordinate labour and materials to meet the schedule. Expect ongoing salary reviews as you deliver quality workmanship and mentor juniors.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in carpentry is required.
• Current White Card and driver’s licence are required.
• Strong residential construction experience, including renovations.
• Experience as Leading Hand or Senior Carpenter or coordinating jobs.

Sunshine Coast | Full-time permanent

Are you an experienced carpenter who enjoys running a site and helping a team work well, but doesn’t want to spend your days buried in the workload of a traditional Site Supervisor role?

Nyblad Construction is looking for a Leading Hand Carpenter / Senior Carpenter to join our Sunshine Coast renovation team.

This is a hands‑on role where you’ll still work on the tools while taking responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of a manageable number of renovation projects.

What’s on offer

• $100,000–$110,000 salary + super, depending on experience and capability


• $100 per week fuel card, worth $5,200 per year


• Company mobile phone


• Permanent, full‑time employment with an established Sunshine Coast builder


• 38‑hour ordinary working week, with additional hours expected to be the exception rather than the norm. No weekend work.


• A deliberately manageable workload of approximately four active projects per Lead Carpenter


• Dedicated support from our Builder, Construction Scheduler/Coordinator and office team


• Clear responsibilities and expectations, rather than one person being expected to oversee the entire construction workload


• Ongoing salary reviews as the role develops and agreed performance targets are achieved


• Varied residential renovation work rather than repetitive volume building

The role

You’ll take ownership of the day‑to‑day onsite delivery of your allocated projects while remaining actively involved in carpentry and renovation works.

You’ll work closely with our Builder and office team to keep jobs organised, identify issues early and make sure the right trades, labour and materials are ready when required.

This is not a desk‑based Site Supervisor position. You’ll still be hands‑on and working alongside the team.

It’s also not a role where you’ll be expected to carry the entire construction pipeline. Our structure is specifically designed to distribute project responsibility across our Lead Carpenters and provide proper scheduling and administrative support.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is an excellent carpenter first, with the confidence and organisation to lead others.

You’ll need:

• Trade qualification in carpentry


• Current White Card and driver’s licence


• Strong residential construction experience, ideally including renovations


• Experience as a Leading Hand, Senior Carpenter or someone already taking responsibility for running jobs and coordinating trades


• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing and quality standards


• Ability to read plans, specifications and scopes


• Good communication and problem‑solving skills


• A practical, organised approach and the ability to think a few steps ahead


• Pride in your workmanship and the finished project


• Your own reliable vehicle for travel between projects
