Job summary

Koori Constructions Pty Ltd is seeking a Leading Hand, a qualified carpenter or builder, to manage carpentry projects across the Central Coast region. You will run jobs from site setup to handover, on the tools with a crew, while briefing subcontractors and keeping timelines on track.

You will read plans, spot issues early, and communicate weekly with clients. A White Card, current driver’s license and your own tools are essential.

Qualifications

• Qualified carpenter with Cert III in Carpentry and relevant site leadership experience.
• Experience running jobs end-to-end, planning a lookahead and holding trades to schedule.
• Able to read plans, detect issues early and work with clients on site.

Responsibilities

• Run each job from site setup to handover with a crew and trades behind you.
• Brief subcontractors and hold them to our standards on site.
• Be on the tools most days and keep the site tidy and safe.

Koori Constructions is a carpentry and building company working across the Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and the Hunter. We handle all aspects of carpentry and building, including renovations, extensions, additions, granny flats and new builds, across residential, commercial, government, health and defence work.

The role

• We're growing and need a leading hand, a qualified carpenter or builder, who can run a job from site set-up to handover, on the tools, with a crew and trades behind you.
• Run each job start to finish: sequence the work, book the trades, hold the program and keep it moving when something goes wrong
• Brief subcontractors and hold them to our standard. Plasterers, tilers, electricians, plumbers and roofers answer to you on site
• Be on the tools. This is a working leading hand role, with carpentry most days
• Keep clients informed. They're often living in the house while we work, so tell them what's happening each week and flag changes early
• Keep the site tidy and safe every day
• Send a weekly photo update on each job

What we expect

About you (essential)

• Qualified carpenter (Cert III in Carpentry) at minimum
• Experience running jobs, not just working on them. You can plan a three-week lookahead and hold it
• You read plans properly and pick up problems before they get built
• Good with people: crew, trades and clients
• White Card, current driver's licence and your own tools
• Qualified builder: builder's licence, Cert IV in Building & Construction or Diploma of Building & Construction
• Experience supervising renovations, bathrooms and extensions
