Job summary

Young Contractors Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Leading Hand with a carpentry, concreting, building/ construction background to join our team on a full-time basis. Based at Port Alma to manage a crew performing concrete remediation on the Wharf, the roster shifts with shipping and tides.

A police check is required. Experience in coordinating work scopes, labour and materials from small to large refurbishments is essential, with a focus on safety, deadlines, and quality.

Qualifications

• Experience in Building Industry
• Minimum 3-5 years experience in Leading Teams in an industrial construction Industry
• Carpentry Trade, Formwork or Building specific would be advantageous
• QBCC License would be advantageous
• Understanding of Concrete Remediation, Cathodic protection installation
• Ability to read and interpret plans
• Implementation of the IMS (Integrated Management System), project specific Management Plans and / or SHEQ documents
• Displaying and making Site Safety Rules available to personnel and visitors to the site
• Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing YBC Policy and Procedures, complying with legal requirements
• Apply HSE requirements, policies, and procedures to all works
• Managing workplace injury, illness, and emergency management processes
• Ensuring that teams are working together with the sole objective of adhering to deadlines, specifications, and codes
• Implementing variations from the Project Manager / Project Supervisor
• Completing project documentation, e.g. ITP's, Inspection Checklists, Daily Diaries, Emails
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently
• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent computer skills in MS Office, Procore or similar Project Management program
• Highly organised self-starter and possess effective time management skills
• Manage crews across multiple sites
• Assist Supervisor in construction projects by planning, organising, and controlling, completing quality inspections, supervising sub-contractors and employees
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
• Valid Australian driver's license and White Card (Construction Induction Card) required
• Must have permanent Australian work rights or valid working visa & be able to pass a police check

Young Contractors are seeking an experienced Leading Hand with a Carpentry/ Concreting/ trade and or Building/Construction background to join our team on a full-time basis. This role will be based at Port Alma till the end of 2026 managing a crew doing concrete remediation on the Wharf. The roster will depend on shipping and tidal influences. You must be able to complete a police check.
