Job summary

Kylock Constructions in Moreton Bay and North Brisbane is seeking a Carpenter / Leading Hand to lead a small crew across outdoor construction projects. You will read plans, set out works and ensure high workmanship standards while coordinating materials and onsite activities.

This hands-on role offers a genuine four-day working week (Mon–Thu) with Fridays off, strong remuneration, and opportunities to progress as the business grows. You will help develop apprentices and own the finished product.

Qualifications

• Qualified carpenter preferred with broad construction experience.
• White Card and valid driver’s licence required.
• Own basic hand tools and reliable transport.
• Ability to work outdoors and undertake physical work.

Carpenter / Leading Hand – 4 Day Work Week

Kylock Constructions is looking for an experienced Carpenter / Leading Hand to join our growing outdoor construction team across Moreton Bay and North Brisbane.

We're looking for someone who is confident on the tools, can take ownership onsite and is capable of leading a small crew while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.

4-Day Working Week

Monday to Thursday – every Friday off.

We're building our permanent team around a genuine four-day working week, with strong remuneration and opportunities to progress as the business continues to grow.

The Role

This is a hands-on Leading Hand position.

You'll be responsible for helping lead the day-to-day works onsite while working productively alongside the crew.

The role will involve:

• Leading a small onsite crew

• Organising day-to-day site activities

• Working productively on the tools

• Reading plans, measurements and levels

• Setting out works

• Keeping jobs moving efficiently

• Coordinating materials and equipment onsite

• Maintaining quality and workmanship standards

• Identifying and communicating issues early

• Helping develop apprentices and less experienced team members

• Taking ownership of the finished product

The Work

Our work is heavily focused on retaining wall construction and replacement, along with a variety of outdoor construction projects including:

• Concrete sleeper retaining walls

• Timber retaining walls

• Removal and replacement of existing retaining walls

• Excavation, post holes and site preparation

• Drainage and backfilling

• Timber, Colorbond and aluminium fencing

• Decks

• Pergolas and patios

• Sheds, carports and garages

• Residential carpentry

• General outdoor construction

Projects are predominantly throughout Moreton Bay and North Brisbane.

Who We're Looking For

Ideally, you'll be a qualified carpenter with broad construction experience and the confidence to take the lead onsite.

Experience across retaining walls, fencing, landscaping, carpentry, concreting, excavation or general residential construction will be highly regarded.

You should be:

• Confident and productive on the tools

• Capable of leading a small crew

• Able to work from plans, measurements and levels

• Able to think ahead and organise the day's work

• Reliable and accountable

• Comfortable making day-to-day onsite decisions

• A good communicator

• Someone who takes pride in the finished product

Experience operating an excavator, skid steer or other earthmoving equipment would be highly regarded.

Requirements

• Carpentry qualification preferred

• Strong construction experience

• White Card

• Current driver's licence and reliable transport

• Own basic hand tools

• Strong work ethic and reliability

• Ability to work outdoors and undertake physical work
