Job summary

BMD is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our civil infrastructure team in Townsville. You will coordinate crews, plant and materials, drive safety, quality and productivity on site, and ensure work is delivered on programme and to budget.

In this hands-on leadership role you will supervise subcontractors and suppliers, enforce site procedures, and mentor junior personnel while upholding our safety culture and environmental standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Civil Construction.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Experience in civil infrastructure and/or urban development projects.
• Proven leadership and team coordination experience.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Understanding of drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
• Commitment to safety, quality and environmental compliance.
• Ability to deliver projects within programme and budget constraints.
• Experience with shoring works.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily site operations and construction activities.
• Coordinate labour, plant and material resources.
• Supervise subcontractors, suppliers and plant hire contractors.
• Monitor project costs and productivity on site.
• Ensure works are delivered to programme requirements.
• Manage survey and set-out requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of site activities; promote safety and environmental standards.
• Identify and report non-conformances and support corrective actions.
• Ensure all works meet quality specifications and client expectations.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Leading Hand to join our high-performing team delivering civil infrastructure and urban development projects.

In this hands-on leadership role, you'll coordinate crews, subcontractors, plant and materials to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
