Job summary

Versatile Group in Sydney, NSW, is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to oversee day-to-day site activities, coordinate trades and labour, and support supervisors to deliver projects safely and efficiently.

This hands-on role offers ownership on site with potential to grow toward a Site Supervisor position within a fast-paced construction business. You will read drawings, manage workflows, and uphold WHS standards across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience as a Leading Hand in the construction industry.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily site activities for workers and subcontractors
• Support delivery of project timelines through effective workflow management
• Assist supervisors with planning, scheduling, and task coordination
• Allocate work based on priorities, skills, and site requirements
• Carry out general construction labour tasks when required
• Support site establishment, maintenance, and clean-up
• Assist with managing multiple site activities where required
• Provide clear daily updates to the Project Manager / Site Supervisor
• Implement and maintain WHS systems and safe work practices
• Maintain site documentation including site diaries, SWMS, and safety records
• Ensure sites are clean, organised, and compliant at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
• Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills
• Solid understanding of WHS/OH&S compliance requirements
• Reliable, hardworking, and strong team-first attitude
• White Card and relevant construction qualifications (desirable)
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence
• Ability to confidently use hand and power tools
