Job summary

Emerald Carrying Company is seeking a motivated and hands-on Workshop Leading Hand to support the Workshop Manager in driving efficient day-to-day workshop operations while maintaining high safety and performance standards. You will coordinate jobs, support technicians and apprentices, and ensure work is completed safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
• Demonstrated experience in a senior trade, leading hand, or workshop supervisory role.
• HR Licence (preferred).
• Strong technical knowledge across diagnostics, maintenance, and complex repairs.
• Sound understanding of compliance requirements and maintenance practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• A proactive, can‑do attitude with a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily workshop operations alongside the team.
• Assist with servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and complex mechanical issues.
• Allocate jobs, manage priorities, and ensure workflow efficiency.
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and hands‑on support to technicians and apprentices.
• Participate in breakdown response, field service callouts, and on‑call duties.
• Maintain strong safety, compliance, and housekeeping standards within the workshop.
