Job summary

City FM Australia is seeking an elite Lead Technical RHVAC Mechanic to be the premier on-site resource for complex diagnostics, critical component replacements and advanced commissioning. This state-based role requires frequent travel to service supermarkets and new installations.

You will lead troubleshooting, execute precision replacements and oversee system upgrades while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring top-tier customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on RHVAC diagnostics experience in supermarket refrigeration.
• Deep understanding of advanced controls, electrical schematics, refrigeration cycles and VRF/VRV systems.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with a track record of solving complex issues.
• Strong leadership and the ability to coach technicians on-site.
• Excellent communication skills with a clear focus on customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Advanced troubleshooting: diagnose and resolve complex RHVAC system failures.
• Precision component replacements: compressors, VSDs, valves and control boards.
• Commissioning and fault finding for new or retrofitted systems.
• Plan and execute RHVAC system upgrades, retrofits and modernisations of supermarket systems.
• On-site mentorship: guide and upskill field mechanics as the senior technical authority.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an elite Lead Technical RHVAC Mechanic to serve as our team’s ultimate technical resource. In this role, you won't just run standard maintenance routes—you will be the go-to specialist responsible for solving complex system diagnostics, executing critical component replacements, and overseeing advanced commissioning and upgrades

This is a State based role which will require a large amount of travel depending on job demand.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex, ongoing RHVAC system failures that standard field technicians cannot solve.


• Precision Replacements: Execute technical component replacements (compressors, variable speed drives, specialised valves, and electronic control boards).


• Commissioning & Fault Finding: Oversee the commissioning of newly installed or retrofitted systems, ensuring optimal efficiency and resolving initial setup faults.


• System Upgrades: Plan and execute comprehensive RHVAC system upgrades, retrofits, and modernisations of Supermarket Systems.


• Technical Mentorship: Act as the senior technical authority on-site, guiding and upskilling field mechanics.

To be considered for this role:

• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in complex RHVAC diagnostics in supermarket refrigeration


• Expertise: Deep understanding of advanced controls, electrical schematics, refrigeration cycles, and modern variable refrigerant flow (VRF/VRV) systems.


• Problem-Solving: Exceptional critical thinking skills with a reputation for solving \"unsolvable\" system issues.


• An understanding of CO2 systemsand refrigeration controls; Emerson, Danfoss and Alerton


• Leadership: Strong communication skills and a willingness to coach other technicians.


• Excellent communication skills with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.


• Refrigerant Handling Licence & Restricted Electrical Licence


• Current Driver’s Licence


• Scissor/ Elevate Work Platform licence – highly regarded.
