Job summary

Baigents Pty Ltd in Melbourne seeks a hands-on Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and delivery across commercial, retail, industrial, and other building projects. You will work directly with directors, clients, architects and builders, taking ownership from design through construction.

The role requires 6–9 years of Australian structural engineering experience, strong knowledge of Australian Standards and the NCC, and capability in steel, concrete and post-tensioned designs.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Typically 6 to 9 years of Australian structural engineering experience, though capability outweighs years.
• Strong capability in structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
• Experience with post-tensioned concrete, timber and existing structures is valued.
• Excellent knowledge of Australian Standards and the NCC.
• Ability to independently deliver structural engineering projects.
• Comfort dealing directly with clients, architects and site teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and delivery of commercial, retail, industrial and other building projects.
• Design steel, reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete and timber structures.
• Undertake structural assessment, alteration and strengthening of existing buildings.
• Prepare and review calculations, sketches, mark ups and technical documentation per Australian Standards and the NCC.
• Review and independently check structural drawings and documentation.
• Manage technical queries and RFIs and provide practical construction phase solutions.
• Undertake site inspections, structural investigations and construction phase reviews.
• Liaise directly with clients, architects, builders and other consultants.
• Manage projects including scope, programme, technical delivery and coordination.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and drafters.
• Contribute to efficient project delivery and maintain strong client relationships.
